If true, it could mean that the upcoming iPad and iPhone can compete with the likes of Samsung’s stylus-toting 5-inch Galaxy Note.

The news arose following a patent filing by the Californian firm, which was announced by the United States Patent & Trademark Office last week.

According to the Apple-dedicated site Patently Apple, the iPen could potentially be “an input device capable of generating haptic feedback may help a user navigate content displayed on the display screen, and may further serve to enhance the content of various applications by creating a more appealing and realistic user interface.”

“Firstly, Apple is thinking of adding advanced haptics to the iPen so that the end user will be able to feel brush strokes and/or line thicknesses for example.

“Secondly, Apple is designing the iPen with a built-in mini speaker so as to provide users with various forms of audio feedback.

“To make all of this interesting and relevant, Apple sheds a little light on how their iPen will work with either a new graphics/paint program of their own and/or with known apps such as Autodesk and Microsoft’s Paint.”

• Step 3: After launching RedSn0w, find the firmware you just downloaded, and click next. You’ll then be given options like customizing your boot logo, once you’ve selected what you want, click next.

• Step 4: Make sure your iPad is off and connected to your computer. Then just follow the instructions to get your iPad into DFU mode.

• Step 5: Once you are successfully in DFU mode, RedSn0w will start its magic. This can take a while, but after it’s done your iPad will restart.

It was a surprise to see that the new iPad (iPad 3) went in a different direction in terms of design to the iPhone 4/S with a distinct curved back piece and much thicker surround. There is a pretty good possibility that the iPad 4 and iPhone 5 will be heavily linked design wise and seeing as the iPhone 5 release date and iPad 4 release date are rumoured to be around the same time (October 2012) it would make a lot sense for them to feature a matching design. With this in mind we were recently shown this video with shows an iPad 4 concept that is heavily based on the current iPhone 4s which leads us to believe that both devices could be heavily influenced by the existing iPhone’s design mainly noting the non-curved back.

There have been reports that Apple will launch two new tablets during 2012: the iPad 3 in March, which turned out to be the new iPad, and then the iPad 4 in October.

The news came via Digitimes which says this information was confirmed by a Taiwanese component manufacturer. The source goes on to say that the iPad 4 will come with killer applications and beefed up hardware to take on various tablets scheduled to arrive in the second half of 2012.

That said, Apple does like its uniform, annual releases so don’t be surprised if we the iPad 4 release date is actually March 2013, 12 months from the launch of the new iPad.

This release schedule would give the new iPad time to flourish in the market and then slowly move out of the spotlight come Christmas as various Windows and Android powered tablets are released.

The same report from Macotakara said that the iPad 4 price (assuming that the iPad 4 is the iPad Mini) would be in the region of $250-$350 (around £160-£230).

On 16 July, we reported that the The New York Times, which claimed to have spoken to sources “with knowledge of the project”, put the iPad Mini price at “significantly less” than the new iPad, which starts at £399. The same report put the iPad Mini screen size at 7.85 inches, a size rumoured by Digitimes back in March.

iBooks is a place where the new iPad 3 really shines. It doesn’t really manage to beat the likes of the Amazon Kindle when it comes to easing strain on the eyes, but the smooth way the letters are laid on the page make it a joy to use to munch through your favorite tome of the moment.

iPhoto :-

iPhoto is another app that really takes advantage of the Retina Display on the new iPad 3, and it makes editing that much easier thanks to it.

We were quickly applying saturation effects left, right and centre to make our pictures look a little cooler – it’s basically the same as the editing tools already in the photo gallery (where you can auto fix, crop, enhance etc) but made 50x better, with a large amount of effects on offer to play with.

Newsstand :-

Like iBooks, the Newsstand is a much improved version of the previous tablet app – the Retina Display is a real winner in our eyes for making your publications look that much slicker, and the magazines and newspapers that have embedded video really stand out when it comes to showing off the multimedia advantages of a digital publications.
